Every application for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) requires the payment of a specific administrative processing fee. As a digital nomad freelancer, this fee must be paid before or at the time of submission to ensure your application is processed by the relevant authorities.

Why it is needed

The requirement is part of the formal application process established under the Ley 28/2022 (Startup Law). This fee covers the administrative costs incurred by the Spanish government in evaluating your professional experience, educational background, and economic activity.

Documenting the payment

To satisfy this requirement, you must provide the following evidence:

• The Official Form: Usually the Modelo 790 (specific code depends on whether you apply at a consulate or within Spain).
• Payment Confirmation: A stamped copy of the form from a Spanish bank or a digital receipt if paid via online banking.
• Status: The document must clearly show the status as "Paid" (Pagado) or "Liquidado".

Translations and Apostilles

• Apostille: Not required. Since this is an internal Spanish document (Hacienda/Consulate form), it does not require an international apostille.
• Translation: Not needed. The payment forms are official Spanish documents.

Common Pitfalls

• Incorrect Fee Code: Ensure you are using the correct version of Modelo 790; using a fee code for a different visa type can result in processing delays.
• Incomplete Stamping: If paying in person, ensure the bank teller stamps all relevant copies of the form.
