Requirement Overview
For applicants under the digital nomad company owner profile, providing proof of dividend or salary income is essential to demonstrate financial self-sufficiency. This requirement ensures you meet the minimum income threshold set by Spanish authorities.
Legal Context
Under Ley 28/2022 (Startup Law), digital nomads must prove a stable income. As per documentation from the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, this threshold is approximately 200% of the Spanish Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).
Satisfactory Evidence
To satisfy this requirement, you should provide documents showing a relationship of at least 3 months with your clients or company, alongside evidence of funds:
- For Salaries: Payslips (nóminas) from the last 3-6 months and a certificate of employment.
- For Dividends: Company board resolutions or minutes authorizing the distribution of dividends, accompanied by bank statements showing the credit entry.
- Company Documents: Proof of company registration and evidence of its activity outside of Spain.
Legalization and Translation
Documents issued outside of Spain generally require:
- Apostille: To verify the document's international validity.
- Sworn Translation: Documents in languages other than Spanish must be translated by a translator authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Common Pitfalls
- Insufficient Income: Not reaching the 200% SMI threshold. Note that if family members are included, the amount increases.
- Lack of Continuity: Failing to prove the relationship with the company existed for at least 3 months prior to the application.
- Incomplete Documentation: Providing bank statements without the underlying legal acts (like dividend resolutions).
